Expert Interview Series Jeff Hunter

Jeff Hunter

Jeff Hunter, The King of Outsourcing, is the founder of VA Staffer. In an event he attended during the 1st quarter of 2018, he had the chance to speak with Ashton Kutcher. He told Ashton “…about my mission to solve global poverty through Entrepreneurship… And at the same time solve REAL problems in the marketplace.”

This truly goes to show that one can “solve a global problem and create wealth for all involved.”

Jeff is a project manager, consultant and virtual team expert building teams worldwide. He has helped SCALE million dollar startups to billion-dollar enterprises and helped HUNDREDS of entrepreneurs grow their businesses VIRTUALLY.

Let’s get to know him more…

What was the defining point in your life that set you on the road to success?

As a project manager before at Philips, I thought I was going to build awesome things, but what took 80% of my time was building GANTT CHARTS… and I hate GANTT CHARTS.

So I started to outsource those and from then on, I got addicted to the possibilities and saw the potential for it.

How do you keep yourself motivated and inspired when things aren’t going so great?

This is a true story. I lost my biggest client early this year. They had to cut-off ties with 3rd-party contractors because of new management, and I was about to lose at least 10 people because I couldn’t give them enough work.

I admitted defeat and shared it on Social Media, 24 hours in and I’m booked with back to back calls for 10-12 hours a day for 4 days. I was able to save my team through the help of people who believed in me. That’s what keeps me going, knowing that I’m one of the catalysts for helping the world solve poverty.

As long as I know I can help people, I will keep going.

What does your normal workday look like?

I’m mostly chilling with my family and taking care of my Frenchies.

My team is awesome. They are able to take care of everything for me so my main work day basically revolves around taking care of the people who are taking care of my clients.

That’s the key.

How much time do you spend a day working ON your business, and how much time do you spend working IN your business?

I’d say getting on podcasts, speaking, and coming up with new content to educate and indoctrinate my following is still my main thing. I used to do everything else but my team literally fired me from all of my other tasks already since they got it covered.

I usually hop on one of their scheduled calls from time to time to disrupt things but I mostly focus on making sure my team gets enough traffic to keep them working and finding unique ways to keep them happy.

I keep my team happy and they keep my clients happy.

What’s your advice to all those aspiring to be a virtual assistant?

People will often tell you to enroll in courses, get a mentor, or any other mixture of pieces of advice but that is just the beginning. The real challenge isn’t about getting hired as a VA.

The true test is how you keep that job or keep that client happy. As important it is to equip yourself with the right skill sets and expertise, it is equally important to develop world-class work ethics. Be reliable, deliver results, and provide value.

If you have those, whichever Virtual Assistant path you take, you will succeed.

What project/s are you working on right now?

I just launched my Circle of Influencers program where I create a group of people who currently have a great following but are not consistent with producing content for their networks.

As influencers, we have a duty to provide value, inspire action, and build communities. This program will allow us to help each other achieve that common goal.
